*The 4th-8th grade bee begins FIRST followed by the bee for younger kids.
4th-8th graders arrive by 12:15; bee will begin promptly at 12:30.*
*Younger students arrive later, typically by 2:30 though this will be
confirmed with registration. *
*FREE; see below for registration details*
*IMPORTANT: ALL students, including 1st-3rd graders MUST be able to read
& write independently. *
Participate because…
-all students receive recognition with a certificate of participation
-trophies up to 3rd place in each of the 2 bees
-additional commendations for progress in the competition, not just winning
-positive competition environment
-NOT single elimination; your child is NOT out if he misses one question
-motivates learning
-opportunity to practice good sportsmanship
-uses higher level thinking skills
Eligibility:
* Participants CANNOT have participated in OR attended in an audience
another Geo Bee for the 2015-16school year. National Geographic allows a
participant to be in ONLY ONE Geo Bee from November 2015-Februrary 2016.
* Participating in more than one Geo Bee OR attending a Geo Bee in the
audience prior to participation is considered cheating. **Any cheating
results in participant & family members being banned from participation
from a Greater Houston Area Homeschool bee for the full length of eligibility (up to 5 yrs.
per participant) & any awards being taken away. The state office will be
contacted, & if the student is eligible for the state level competition,
they will be disqualified.* *This is a National Geographic rule. **
* ALL participants MUST be FULL time residents of the South East TX
Region or Greater Houston & its suburbs & surrounding areas. This bee is
to have this region represented.
* ALL students must be homeschooled for 100% of their schooling.
Students attending public, private, or parochial schools are not eligible
for this bee. Participants should also…
-be able to read & write independently as previously stated.
-be taking a similar course of study to those in their age group & grade
(age based) group.
-not have turned 15 on or before Sept. 1, 2015
*Winner should be able to take the qualifying test by the end of January by
making arrangements with the proctor.
- *REGISTRATION:**There is no fee, but all students must be registered by the deadline of
January 4, 2016. NO walk ins. Registration may close early if we reach our maximum.
Registrations sent via postal mail to Texas Home Educators will not be accepted

-To be sure it is received properly, be sure to put in the subject line
Geo Bee Registration.
-Put all participants in the same family in ONE email.
-Within a week, you will receive a ‘got it’ message. If you don’t, we
didn’t get it.
-Next, you will receive a Confirmation of Registration no later than Jan.
4th. * You will need to confirm your participation a week before the bee.*Special Note:
* Please remember the success of the bee is dependent on your
PARTICIPATION, NOT on registration alone. Texas Home Educators covers the cost of the bee,
but you must show up the day of the bee & participate. We realize family emergencies
arise, but please contact the registrar as soon as possible when you know
your child will not participate. Please do not bring sick children to the
